Snails move away from the copper due to the static electricity generated and will not cross the copper tape. Ants also stay away from copper tape because of the smell, as it disrupts their own scent trail.

User Manual

• Make sure all ants and snails (eggs) are scooped elsewhere before you apply the snail tape. Otherwise, you will lock the snails in instead of out.
• Next, make the soil slug and ant-free and apply the tape around the pot/planter.
• The tape does not work immediately. It takes a few days for the copper layer to work, because the best protection is after the copper has oxidized. On average, this takes about three days.
